Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Croydon Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold and promote human rights, and we are committed to conducting all aspects of our work ethically, transparently, and with integrity.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Croydon Man and Van provides transport, removal, and associated services to domestic and commercial customers. Our activities rely on a combination of directly engaged staff and third-party suppliers, including vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted labour and logistics support.
We acknowledge that modern slavery and human trafficking can occur in any industry and geography. We therefore seek to understand and manage the risks within our own operations and across our supplier relationships, particularly where lower-skilled or temporary labour may be involved.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We have a clear zero-tolerance stance on all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, and human trafficking. Croydon Man and Van will not knowingly work with any organisation that does not share this commitment or that is involved in exploitative or abusive labour practices.
This zero-tolerance approach applies to our employees, agency workers, contractors, and all suppliers. Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. As part of our selection and onboarding processes, we assess suppliers on ethical conduct, working conditions, and their own approach to preventing modern slavery.
Where proportionate to the level of risk, we may carry out supplier audits or request evidence of their policies, due diligence practices, and workforce protections. These reviews may include discussions on recruitment practices, use of agency or migrant labour, wage and working time compliance, and grievance mechanisms for workers.
If concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers to agree corrective actions and monitor progress. Persistent or serious non-compliance may lead to the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Training
We aim to ensure that our staff understand what modern slavery is, how it might manifest in our industry, and what steps to take if they have concerns. Appropriate employees are provided with guidance on recognising warning signs, such as restricted freedom of movement, signs of coercion, withholding of documents or wages, or individuals who appear fearful or controlled by others.
Managers involved in procurement or supplier management receive additional guidance on assessing ethical risks and escalating any issues that may indicate modern slavery in our supply chain.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Croydon Man and Van encourages all employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns they may have in relation to modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business. Reports can be made to line managers or senior management, or through any internal whistleblowing channels made available to staff.
We will treat all concerns seriously and handle them sensitively, respecting confidentiality as far as possible. No person will suffer any detrimental treatment as a result of raising a concern in good faith. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement or other competent authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires regular review and improvement. Each year, Croydon Man and Van will review this statement and evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, taking into account any incidents reported, changes in our business activities, supplier risk profiles, and evolving best practice.
As part of this annual review, we will consider whether additional measures are necessary, such as enhanced supplier due diligence, more frequent audits, updated contractual provisions, or further training for employees. We are committed to making continuous improvements to strengthen our defences against modern slavery and to promote fair and safe working conditions throughout our operations.
Approval of this Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the leadership of Croydon Man and Van and reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of our business.
